Charges Explained

To ensure that our charges are fair and transparent, our charges are set by Ofwat (the Water Services Regulation Authority) the economic regulator for the water sector in England and Wales.

Changes in how much customers will pay annually will depend on several factors, including the rate of inflation (CPIH also known as the Consumer Prices Index).

Most metered customers pay:
  1. A charge for water used, based on the volume of water measured by the water meter.
  2. A standing (fixed) charge which covers the cost of reading and maintaining the meter.
  3. A charge for wastewater, normally based on a proportion of the water supplied as measured by the meter. The ‘reduction’ allows for activities like garden watering and car washing. However, if you can demonstrate that less than the assumed proportion of your water is returned to our sewer, please contact us to discuss whether a greater ‘allowance’ is appropriate
  4. A standing charge for wastewater services, which covers the costs of maintaining the sewerage system and disposing of any surface water drainage.

These charges will be included in your bill.

Although no usage charges will apply to properties that are unoccupied, standing charges will still apply. These charges will continue to accrue unless a specific request has been submitted informing us to turn off your supply.

If your property is not connected to a surface water drain, we will not charge you for this service. If you believe you are being incorrectly charged, then please call us on 01376 312420

I don't have a water meter, do I need one?
As all of our properties are new, a meter should have been installed prior to occupation.

My bill is higher than I expected, why?
If you have a higher bill than normal, it could be due to a leak within the property. Please visit our leakage page to find out more information about dealing with leaks.
