Technology that opens up the world
A core part of the school’s approach is ensuring every pupil has the tools they need to communicate and thrive. For many, that means access to an iPad equipped with Proloquo2Go, a specialist communication app designed to support non-verbal children or those with limited speech.
The app enables pupils to express choices, thoughts and feelings in ways that may not have been possible before. It can be tailored to each child, with vocabulary and features introduced at a pace that suits their development. Over time, this helps to build confidence, reduce frustration and encourage greater independence both in school and at home.
Making a practical difference
Earlier this year, our team dropped off the latest iPads to Chatten Free School, helping pupils access the communication tools they need. Each iPad and software package costs around £1,000. Through fundraising, our aim is to help the school provide this essential technology to more pupils.
The impact is tangible. For families, it can mean hearing their child communicate clearly for the first time. For pupils, it can mean being able to take part more fully in lessons, social situations and everyday life. Small moments, such as choosing a favourite song or asking for something specific, represent significant milestones.
Why this matters to us
At Leaf Water we work across communities every day. Supporting initiatives like this reflects our wider commitment to having a positive impact beyond our core services. By backing organisations such as Chatten Free School, we are helping to create opportunities, strengthen local connections and contribute to something that lasts far beyond a single donation.
We look forward to continuing our support and seeing the difference it makes.
